**I'm so grateful to the #SOL community for welcoming me, even after a long absence. Thanks to the team at Two Writing Teachers for hosting the slicing community each Tuesday! And an even bigger thank you to that team for hosting an even larger community for the entire month of March for the Slice of Life Challenge. You all rock!!**
Today's Slice of Life seems like a good opportunity to share some transitions happening here at Literate Lives:
10 YEARS AGO:
In Feb. 2008, Bill and I began this blog (a huge shout-out to MaryLee for meeting on a cold February morning to get us started on the basics). Bill was embarking on a career path as a media specialist and would be sharing books with his entire school's population, and I was a classroom teacher who just loved books and sharing them with my students. We both wanted to share what we were reading with other educators. Over the past 10 years, we have shared a plethora of books and stories here at Literate Lives, and have gotten to know so many people that share a love of books and stories as well. We considered ourselves extremely fortunate to have met all of you!
**And on a personal note, I'm so thankful Bill embarked on this blog journey with me. Thanks to him for a great 10 years!**
THEN:
I retired last May, and have been trying very hard to find my voice at our blog.
Bill will be retiring this May, and is stepping away from the blog; he is looking forward to new adventures in retirement.
After 10 years, our collaboration here is coming to an end.
NOW:
Literate Lives will continue with the same name, just a slightly revised purpose and a slightly different layout, and just one contributor. I will continue to search for my writing "voice" by engaging in some of the online communities in place:
- sharing my passion of reading- sharing books that I've read, and hopefully becoming a more frequent member of the #IMWAYR community
- working on developing that writing voice by becoming a member of the #SOL community, starting this week by joining the March Slice of Life Challenge. I look forward to exercising my writing muscles again
Thanks so much to all of you who have been part of Bill and my journey over the past 10 years! We're grateful you took time out of your busy days to read some of the things we've shared.
Moving forward, I look forward to sharing my passion for reading and writing for the next several years.
