The Slice of Life Challenge - Count Me In!

Let's see, what is on my "to do" list for the next few weeks?

  • two nights of parent-teacher conferences
  • one full day of parent-teacher conferences as well
  • end of the trimester and progress reports are due
  • my mom's re-replacement hip surgery with continued rehab afterward
  • a weekend trip to Michigan for MRA
  • meetings, meetings, meetings
  • leaving to vacation in Hilton Head with my husband
That's right; count me in for the 2014 Slice of Life Challenge!  There are probably a hundred reasons that I could use to excuse myself from posting daily, but I am committing to writing something each and every day.

At a writing retreat I attended last summer, one of the motivational quotes I received said exactly that: "I commit to writing something each and every day."  That card sits on my desk, right by my computer, and is, unfortunately, often overlooked.  Not so this March.  I'm going to make good on my promise to honor this quote.

I look forward to joining my Slicing community again.  I have missed all of you, the stories you share so eloquently, and the conversations we have through comments to each other.  Thanks for understanding my absence; thanks for welcoming me back.

To follow the Slice of Life Challenge, stay tuned to the Two Writing Teachers blog to see the amazing posts that are written.  The Challenge begins this Saturday, March 1.

  1. Am starting year 3...I have been good during March, but seem to slack off during the rest of the year! Glad you are finding the time!

  2. There's never a better time than now, Karen. Hurrah, as I said on FB-will be sure to look for you each day!

  3. "I commit to writing something each and every day." Love this quote!! Thanks for sharing! I also enjoyed your list of what is up and coming - it shows how you will have to fit the writing into lots of other things. (I guess that's why it is a CHALLENGE for all of us!)

  4. YAY! Can't wait to see what stories find you here.

  5. Your list looks quite daunting. But I love the last two! I am writing for the first time too! Looking forward to it!

  6. I was glad to see a vacation tucked into that busy schedule, Karen! And glad to see that you will be part of the challenge this year, too.

  7. One, your mom is having to have the hip replaced? Didn't she just have the surgery around Christmas? Your poor mom! Two, YAY Hilton Head! It has been too long since I have been that way. Three, MRA!! So excited to see you.

  8. Although you will be busy, you will have lots of possible slices. I law at look forward to your posts.

  9. Karen,
I'm so glad you'll be joining the fun. I always enjoy stopping by your blog to see what you're up to. Your to-do list is busy, but hopefully you can squeeze in a little quiet time to write.
